Château de Chenonceau

Famous for its elegant architecture, the Château de Chenonceau, a bridge castle spanning the Cher River, embodies a sense of refinement and harmony that reflects its various successive owners.

Nicknamed the “Château of the Ladies,” it owes much of its fame to the women who shaped its history. Among them were Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici, two women who loved the same king, Henry II, and whose rivalry shaped the castle’s destiny. A theatre of sumptuous celebrations, Chenonceau was a courtly and political hotspot at the heart of the French Renaissance.

Throughout the tour, discover the Renaissance gardens, the estate’s farm, as well as the floral arrangements that adorn every room of the château and contribute to the elegant atmosphere of the place.

The history of the Château de Chenonceau, one of the most famous châteaux of the Loire Valley, continues with the Menier family, known for their chocolate empire. As owners in the 19th century, they helped preserve this architectural jewel and enabled it to survive both world wars, braving the assaults of history.

Even today, this masterpiece built on the water invites visitors on a unique journey through the Renaissance, royal passions, and the grand history of France.
