Welcome to the Royal Château d’Amboise !
An impregnable fortress since the Middle Ages, the Château d’Amboise was transformed under King Charles VIII and his wife Anne of Brittany.
Discover the early French Renaissance with its Italian influences, with gardens inspired by the Neapolitan landscape architect and gardener Dom Pacello di Mercogliano.
A true cradle of the French royal court, King Francis the First grew up and resided here. He invited the great Italian master Leonardo da Vinci. His grave can be seen in the Saint Hubert Chapel, a recently restored Gothic masterpiece.
The château served as a royal residence marked by festivities and numerous intrigues.
Over the centuries, its appearance has changed significantly, particularly under the influence of the House of Orléans.
